I have never seen a Spangled Cotinga in the wild. I probably never will — this one lives deep in the South American canopy, and I live in the Catskills.
But I mesmerized by it - That turquoise so saturated it barely looks real, set against a throat patch the color of dried wine. It's an unlikely color combination that shouldn't work and somehow does.
This one was fun for me — brighter, bolder, less about restraint and more about just letting the color sing.
